Rostov region subsidizes the distribution of the printed press

In the Rostov region now in addition to the production and release of printed materials the distribution also will be subsidized. That means the possibility of alternative delivery of regional and municipal publications to the population is considered.

Proper amendments to the regional law "On the economic support of media and printing companies" were approved and recommended to bring to the meeting of the Don parliament deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the region on October 27, informs the correspondent of REGNUM IA.

Nine out of ten crimes committed against journalists remain unsolved

The United Nations marked the first International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, at least 370 media workers were killed in 2004-2013. Their deaths were connected to their profession in one way or another, with complete impunity in 333 cases.

Starting from 2015 the Sochi citizens will be able to subscribe for press online

Russian Post is launching its own online subscription agency, which will work directly with the publishers, helping to make the periodicals more affordable.

The new system will go live on April 1, 2015, when the subscription campaign for the second half of the year starts. The Russian Post plans to start making contracts with the publishers as early as December 2014. The new system will allow everyone to subscribe for the titles they want on the Russian Post’s website starting from April 1, 2015.

Currently, the Russian Post serves approximately 20 million subscribers in Russia, delivering over 1 billion of copies annually.

Russian press distribution market research

In 2014 ARPP has conducted the press distribution market research requested by the Russian Ministry of Communications and Mass Media. An official survey of all Russian Federation subjects’ administrationswas part of the research.

Regional distributors also were surveyed regarding the number of newsagent’s locations. ARPP has analyzed the received information on availability of retail outlets specializing in press distribution (press kiosks) in different regions and cities.

Google Search set a record in Russia

 Search engine’s share increased to 31.7%. The share of Google search in Russia has reached record levels - according to Liveinternet, in early November it was 31.7%. "Yandex" had 59.5% of search queries. The share of the Russian Internet company does not fall below 60 per cent mark since February 2012, when the figure was 59.3%. owever, at that time Google's share was much lower - 25.2%.

Regional editions can not withstand the pressure of "Russian Post"

Russians will be able to remove all the information about themselves from the Internet

Every Russian can demand to remove personal information from the databases on the Internet. This right has been laid in a number of provisions of Russian law. But more adjustments will be needed.

Meanwhile a citizen may request to update personal information in databases, said Deputy chief of Roskomnadzor Antonina Priezzheva on an international conference of the agency, dedicated to the protection of the personal data of Russians.

Beer did not refresh press

The growth rates of the Russian advertising market continues to slow, falling to 5% in the first nine months of 2014. For the first time in few years the online display of advertising went down, the revenues from the placement fell by 2% - to 12.9 billion rubles. The most significant drop is still going through the printed press, which almost did not notice the returned from August beer commercials.
