Revenues Up for Meredith’s Magazine Group

Revenues were up for Meredith's National Media Group in its fiscal year 2013 earnings report, as the company saw big returns from digital advertising and continued success with its Sales Guarantee program. Recent acquisitions skewed the results however.

The company's overall revenues were up 7 percent year-over-year to $1.5 billion, with operating profits ahead 13 percent to $211 million.

Apple’s iPad Sales Falter in Q3

iPhone and iPad sales went in opposite directions Apple announced in yesterday's fiscal third quarter earnings report.


Smartphone sales increased 20 percent year-over-year, surpassing 31 million units worldwide, as tablet volume fell 14 percent to about 14.5 million units. At just over $6 billion in revenue though, iPads bring in only about a third of what iPhones generated.

Forbes Media has launched Forbes Wine Club, a new subscription and e-commerce site that connects subscribers with fine wines they are likely to enjoy. The company has partnered with Lot18 to create ForbesWineClub.com, a customizable wine buying experience.

The Kremlin plans to create their own mass media in order to "break the monopoly of liberalism" in the information environment. However, as a major competitor are named publications, which are positioned as business ones, like "Vedomosti" and "Kommersant".

Coordination Center for TLD engaged in cyber security.

Coordination Center for TLD (KC), the administrator of Domain .Ru and .RF, together with the large Russian IT-companies ("Yandex», Mail.Ru Group, «Kaspersky Lab" and Group-IB) have decided to create their own blacklist of sites with hazardous content: viruses, spyware or phishing software.
