Variety's Paywall: 'The End of An Error'

Jay Penske's Penske Media Corporation is significantly overhauling the Varietyplatform, starting with its paywall, which will come down when a new Variety.com is launched on March 1st. The brand's print daily edition will also be discontinued while the weekly will continue on. Lastly, Variety will have not one, but three new top editors, with Claudia Eller, Cynthia Littleton and Andrew Wallenstein hired as a trio of editors-in-chief.

Rental fee for metropolitan kiosks in underground passages will grow by more than 10 times

The city authorities have raised rental fees for entrepreneurs, whose stalls are located in the underground passages, upon the average, 11.6 times.

According to the calculations of the Central Supervisory Directorate of the City of Moscow (Glavkontrol), this will allow to increase revenues from the current 160 million rubles to 2 billion rubles. Traders are afraid not to drag out new charges and promise to roll their businesses. But officials insist that this is an empty threat: in the underground passages work mainly undertenants, who have paid market rates for a long time from now, the money just pass by the urban pockets.

MOSCOW, Russia – KupiVIP, the Russian online fashion retailer, is seeking to raise $125 million in an initial public offering next year to fund warehouse construction and expand delivery network, its founder said.

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Jefferies & Co. are among advisers KupiVIP has held discussions with about the planned stock sale in New York, though no mandate has been offered, founder and Chief Executive Officer Oskar Hartmann said.
