The Press Distributors Association is one of the oldest public mass-media organizations in the Russian Federation. The Association was founded on July 16, 1995 as a voluntary non-profit nongovernmental association and was registered on September 3, 1996.
The Association unites press distributors, publishers and other organizations involved in publishing business, press distribution and mass media. The PDA members work with more than 2500 customers all over the Russian Federation and CIS countries.
Objectives
- To protect the professional interests of the printed products distributors and publishers in Russia and CIS.
- To establish a civilized press market and press distribution system in our country.
- To coordinate the activities of the PDA members in the field of mass media and printed products distribution.
- To represent and protect the common valuable interests of the PDA members.
Administration
The main governing body of the Association is the Conference. The executive bodies, which conduct the current management of the PDA, are the President and the Board of the Association. The PDA President is Mr. Dmitry Martynov. The Chairman of the Board is Mr. Alexander Oskin. The Executive Director is Ms. Natalia Komissarova.
Membership
PDA membership is voluntary and individual. The membership is open to Russian and foreign artificial bodies; associations and unions of the journalists, cultural and art workers; think-tanks and research centers, which conduct the marketing, sociological and economical studies of the mass media market, commercial and non-profit organizations, which are concerned about the improvement and development of the press manufacture and distribution markets. All the members are to pay an entrance and annual membership fees.
The leading press distributors and big newspaper and magazine publishers are among the PDA members. The founders and the members of the Association operate in all of the market segments, their market share reaches 80% of the wholesale sales in Russia, 70% - in the field of distribution among the Russian regions and CIS countries, and 50% in distribution among the retail sellers.

Activities
- Research of the printed products market tendencies.
- Informational, instructional, managerial and other kinds of guidance and support of the press distributors.
- Assistance in development and launch of the projects vital for the establishing of the advanced press distribution systems.
- Cooperation with the public and political organizations in order to implement and protect political, economical and other rights of the PDA members.
- Protection of the citizens' right to have an unimpeded access to the printed products, in accordance with the current legislation.
- Development and strengthening of the international relations in the field of the mass media distribution in order to establish the proper conditions for the experience exchange.
To reach the before mention objectives, the APD regularly conducts the working groups meetings. The APD executives established the following working groups:

The Press Distributors Association conducts various conferences, round tables, seminars and trainings for the members of the mass media community in order to discuss the most important matters of the mass media market, publishing and distribution, such as:
