Association of journalists covering the family issues, created in Russia

Association of journalists covering the family issues (AZHST), established in Russia after the contest "The Family and the Future of Russia”, was told at the Foundation of St. Andrew to RIA Novosti on Tuesday.

40 journalists from federal and local media from 25 regions of Russia became the members of the Association.

Recalling that the idea of creating the Association was proposed at the round table "Family values in the media" on September 9 for first time, spokesman of St. Andrew Foundation noted that members of AZHST see its main goal "in promoting the objectives set by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who in his order to the Government of the Russian Federation noted the need to create family-oriented public information policy".

In 2015, the Association is planning to conduct training and expert webinars, roundtables and workshops in the regions of Russia, as well as create an advisory council and a bank of social projects in cooperation with the program "Sanctity of Motherhood", which is implemented by the Foundation of St. Andrew and the Centre of National Glory.

AZHST members hope that they will be able to form a family "agenda" in the information space and to offer professional standards in coverage of family topics to journalistic community.
