The Kremlin's new mass media is designed to control the mood of the business elite

The Kremlin plans to create their own mass media in order to "break the monopoly of liberalism" in the information environment. However, as a major competitor are named publications, which are positioned as business ones, like "Vedomosti" and "Kommersant".

Aboutthe Kremlin's plansto establisha publishing companyand issue it inthe framework ofits mass mediahas mentionedthe chairmanof the Boardof Directors of thenon-profitFoundation "Institute for Socio-Economic and Political Studies" (ISEP) DmitryBadovsky to the correspondentof "Kommersant"on June 11. The main functionof the newmedia, with a site plan to be determined closer to the fall- isto competein the information environmentwith such "giants" as "Kommersant" and "Vedomosti".

Badovsky noted, that the resources of "Vzglyad.Ru" and "Dni.Ru" can become site for the new mass media.  "Vzglyad.Ru" was created in 2005 by media producer Konstantin Rykov, whose publishing house "Popular Literature" belongs to ISEPI. Originally the resource creators positioned it exactly as yet untitled new project of the Kremlin - a business newspaper, which claims to be the rival of "Vedomosti" and "Kommersant".


Probably, chief ideologue of the presidential administration Vyacheslav Volodin is not inclined to overestimate the role of the portal in current media environment. Former chief editor of "" Alexey Shmelev in an interview to links the creation of the next Kremlin mass media with changes over the age of Vyacheslav Surkov's media policy.
