Top 10 Russian online media: business value, audience and revenues

The problem of measuring the Internet assets value is one of the interesting questions in the ruNet. This small research is devoted to attendance, profitability and business value of the biggest Russian online media.

Let's start with the main source of monetization – the audience. Lenta.ru, the news portal, holds the traffic leadership (about 11.3 million unique visitors per month).  Kp.ru (online version of popular daily newspaper) and Gazeta.ru are on the 2nd and 3rd places with 9.6 and 8.1 million unique visitors, respectively.

Total annual advertising revenue of 10 largest Russian online media is about $ 33 million; it is 6% of the total media market advertising volume ($ 510 million).

It is also important to define another indicator – a monthly online media income per unique visitor. According to this criterion business news websites, which have smaller audience, are the leaders. It is clear that the audience of such business sites as Expert.ru and Vedomosti.ru is more “expensive” one than, for example, the Lifenews.ru audience.

In sum, the business value of Top 10 Russian online media is about $ 147 million. And the most expensive one is Lenta.ru – it costs more than $ 25 million.
