TV guide market: new trends

TV guide market was growing faster than the rest of the print media market up until 2012. During the first 4 months of 2012 it has been displaying the same 7% growth as the rest of the industry though.


What happened to the TV guide market? In 2010 and 2011, almost all the TV guides had a significant increase in revenues. This year majority of the TV guides are actually displaying a decline in advertising revenues. The only two exceptions are "7 Days" and "TV Program", their revenues grew by 6% and 43% respectively over the first four months of 2012.

The shuffling of main players in the TV guide market started last year when the "TV Program" moved up to the second place by securing a bigger market share than "7 Days" and "Teleweek". According to the “TV Program” publisher, Vladislav Gemst, his publication had about 18% market share back in 2010, in the first four months of 2012 it has already exceeded 29%.

"TV Program" has already come a long way to become more attractive to both readers and advertisers. In the future we are planning to make it more magazine like by improving the paper and print quality as well as the content”, - Mr. Gemst shared.
